Best Android Games – September 2017
top 10 games [Best Android Games – September 2017]

A new month, a new crop of games in the Play Store. Truthfully, it doesn’t take an entire month for new games to show up as so many of them are showing up daily, and it can be hard to keep track of them all, but it does usually take a month to let enough new titles land to where there is a healthy list to pull from, and that’s what we’ve done here. If you’re looking for a new game or a few new games to check out, and since it’s rolling into the weekend, give the games on this list a once-over and see if anything strikes your fancy.

1. Metal Gear Solid 2 HD

metal gear solid 2 [Best Android Games – September 2017]

We’re going to kick off this list with a title that while for Android, is exclusively for the NVIDIA SHIELD when it comes to compatible devices. That said, this is a fantastic game and a classic at that. It’s one that has to be experienced if you didn’t get the chance to play it on the PS2 when it originally launched. If you’re familiar with the game and have played it before, then it will certainly make you feel nostalgic. If you like stealth and espionage mixed with great story telling and plenty of action-packed combat, give this one a go, provided you have the SHIELD.

There’s certainly no shortage of games on Android which fall into the strategy category and pit you against other players tasking you and them to defend your built-up base while attacking the enemy. Now you can add the Walking Dead franchise to that as March To War is a strategy-based Walking Dead mobile game where build a base, fortify its defenses, forge alliances with other players, and dominate your enemies by scouring the map and recovering any resources you can from your rivals. If you felt like the zombie apocalypse was what strategy games were missing, try this out.

titanfall assault [Best Android Games – September 2017]

Dipping back into the waters of the strategy genre, Titanfall: Assault will have you fighting for supremacy against enemy titans and soldiers. This is based on the hit FPS title for consoles, with familiar elements like being able to summon titans to fight in the battle. Much like other similar strategy games you will play against people in matches, and the goal will be to take their base. The gameplay is kind of like Clash Royale, as you will also collect cards to use in battle with some cards being titans, some being soldiers, and some being weaponry to use, like missiles and turrets. Lots of action and competitive play in this one, and definitely worth a try.

6.Death Point

If you don’t own an NVIDIA SHIELD but you do like spy games, Death Point will be a game for you to try out as it mixes a top-down shooter with stealth action, dual stick controls, and post a apocalyptic setting. Combat is tactical and you’ll need to be smart about the moves you make to avoid detection and unnecessary fights with the enemy, but should you get into a situation you can only fight your way out of, the game has plenty of weapons for you to use that can help you do just that.

7.Nobleman: 1896

This is a third-person cover shooter, set in 1896 as the name suggests, though it doesn’t appear to be an on rails type of gameplay which might make this one a little more enticing as you will have a little more freedom of movement. Visuals are top-notch so if you like pretty graphics, this game won’t disappoint. The game also offers a unique element where you will be able to plan out your strategies and plans of attack and then dive into the third-person view to carry out those plans in the middle of all the action.

The sequel to the popular Framed, Framed 2 will continue where things left off as it’s set two years after the original game. This is a puzzle title so you’ll be trying to solve how to move forward, frame by frame, with an endearing comic-book style of visuals. If you like the first Framed, then you’ll love Framed 2.

9.Sonny

Sonny also features some comic-book style visuals like the last game, but in a more gritty way with a somewhat cell-shaded look to them. As far as gameplay goes, Sonny is an side-scrolling RPG that features turn-based combat and cut scenes that actually look like pages of a comic book to tie the different parts of the story together. This one is free, and it’s a whole lot of fun so check it out if you’re into RPG titles.

10.Gemini

Rounding out this list is a game called Gemini, which the Play Store categorizes as a casual title, though it’s described as an interactive poem that you play out. It’s based on two stars journeying together and the more you play the more you uncover about the story and the meaning of your journey. The game also throws obstacles at you like falling bits of debris that you will need to avoid, and all of that is wrapped in a gorgeous set of visuals with some nice ambient music to tie it all together for one harmonious game.

While fans have been able to pre order an Xbox One X in the past, stock was quick to sell out.

The first batch of consoles were released by Microsoft during their Gamescom conference in August, which also provided a little incentive.
Those first units were Project Scorpio Editions, which came with their own special design to celebrate the initial name of the console.
Microsoft have since confirmed that those consoles will not be available at retail again, and were only supposed to be a little bonus for those grabbing the console early.
“Although our fans may no longer be able to pre-order the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition in their country, we know people are still anxious to get their hands on the world’s most powerful console,” a message from Microsoft explains.
“We will be announcing details of the next wave of Xbox One X standard edition pre-orders next month so stay tuned for more information.”

As mentioned above, the tech giant also promised to reveal when their next batch of Xbox One X consoles would be launched this month.
And a recent retail leak appears to have confirmed that date.
According to Thisgengaming.com, a recent online advert for the console revealed that new stock will be arriving on September 21.
If this proves true, Microsoft should make their announcement early this week, although the advert also suggested that units would only be available in-store.
Whatever happens, it will be interesting to see if the console sells as well as the first batch.
That’s when the Xbox One X broke some company records, according to Microsoft

PS5 release date - PS4 successor launching sooner than you think?

The PS5 release date has been cause for much speculation after tech giant Sony earlier this year confirmed that a successor to the hugely successful PS4 WILL happen.

The PlayStation 4 is still selling great, with official stats showing the PS4 shipping an impressive 63.3million units between its launch in November 2013 and June 30 this year.
Analysts have predicted the PS4 will sell more than 100million units in its lifetime, making it one of the most successful consoles of all time.
Sony have already confirmed that the  PS5  will be released, with PlayStation exec Shawn Layden confirming a PlayStation 5 “is coming”.
Industry analyst Damian Thong previously predicted that Sony’s next console could be released in the second half of 2018.
Thong has a track record of PlayStation predictions coming true.
He correctly predicted Sony would launch a PS4 Slim and a PS4 Pro months before the consoles were announced.
And now industry analyst Michael Pachter has had his say on the PS5 release date.
Pachter earlier this year said that the PS5 could have a release date in 2019.
In July he made the prediction, saying that he expects the PS5 to also be backwards compatible with the PS4.

But in a recent podcast, Pachter said he believes the PS5 will come out either in 2019 or 2020 - with a 2020 release date more likely.
In comments reported by PSU, Pachter said: "I think that's exactly when you'll see one (PS5) 2019 or 2020, and if I had to bet, it's 2020.
“Sony's making so much money with the PS4 that I think they'll continue to milk it as long as they can milk it.
“And I think the natural extension of that is the PS4 Pro becomes the default PS4, and they just knock that price down to $250 when they can and they keep selling it -- a ton of those.

“The PS5 is probably going to be their real 4K device, and so it just feels to me that they're not going to launch the PS5 until sales momentum for the PS4 slows, and it just hasn't.
“So you certainly get through 2017, 2018, and I just don't see it slowing in 2018 which should prop them to launch something in 2019.
“If it slows in 2019, they're probably launching in 2020."

Pachter made the comments in a podcast with Josiah Renaudin's "The 1099".

If the PS5 does launch in 2019 and 2020, it means that it likely will still be competing with the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox One X for sales.
The Switch only launched in March this year, and the Xbox One X will be out this November.
So it’s likely the Switch and the Xbox One X will still be Nintendo’s and Microsoft’s flagship consoles in a few years time.
In July Sony bigwig Layden told German tech website Golem that the PS5 “is coming”.
However, he said it will “probably be some time” before a PlayStation 5 is released.
It remains to be seen whether the PS5 will support the current PlayStation VR headset, or whether Sony will launch a new, upgraded model for PlayStation 5

Tomb Raider Movie's First Trailer Looks Like The Games

TRAILER

UPDATE: Due to a takedown notice, we have removed the trailer the player above. However, we expect the trailer to launch (again) very soon. We'll update this story with the trailer again once it's live.
UPDATE 2: And the trailer is back! You can watch it in the trailer above, and "making of" trailer below:

The original story appears below.
As promised, the full trailer for Tomb Raider is here. Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft, and the movie certainly looks like it will live up to director Roar Uthaug's earlier suggestion that the 2013 reboot game would be a big influence, with some moments taken directly from the game. The trailer was originally published on Instagram by co-star Daniel Wu, but it has since been removed, though you can still watch it above.
The film also stars Dominic West (The Wire) as Lara's father, Walton Goggins (Sons of Anarchy) as the villain, and Daniel Wu (Warcraft) as a ship captain who works with Lara on her adventure.
Uthaug's previous movie was the disaster epic The Wave, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vikander reveals that shooting Tomb Raider was a similarly water-drenched experience. "Just like in The Wave, we have a lot of water sequences," she said. "I spent my last two days of shooting in a tank and that was my 16th total day being fully drenched or submerged in the water. For one action scene, we used the London venue for Olympic rafting. They threw me down that river--with my hands tied--about 50 times. I didn't need to act, just react!"
Tomb Raider hits theaters on March 16, 2018. On the gaming side, while no new Tomb Raider has been announced, a sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raideris likely, as the 2013 reboot has been described as part of a trilogy. A leak last year suggested the name of the third game is Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Shooters, action games, two of the biggest racing games of the generation, and more are scheduled to arrive during the month.

Final Fantasy XV Comrades Multiplayer Has a Release Date

Square Enix announced today when the Comrades multiplayer expansion for Final Fantasy XV is coming: October 31, 2017. Comrades is downloadable content for the single-player title allowing players to team up and take on cooperative missions within the world of FFXV. The expansion takes place during a very specific time in the game's overall story.

USgamer's own Nadia and Kat played the multiplayer beta together and their time with the expansion wasn't entirely amazing.
"There's not a lot wrong with Comrades, but it's not riveting, either. It's not nearly as deep as Final Fantasy XIV, and there's little exploration to be had. I believe it's for people like Kat and myself – people who are down with playing a frankly mindless multiplayer experience for an hour while chatting about irrelevant things,"
"Kat and I did very little planning when we took on each of the beta's three missions. We just executed Final Fantasy XV's commands while gabbing about hockey, soccer, and ham (you had to be there). It might not have hurt to do a little more planning, since we did indeed die a couple of times. Really, though, Comrades' fights don't offer a lot of opportunities for strategy."
We'll see if Square Enix added a bit more depth to the experience when the full release of Comrades comes on October 31.
